Back in May 2002, I was lucky to get an exclusive interview of Ryan Merriman, for my website, Audiovisuelnet.
Ryan was 19 then, and he had just shot "Taken" and the "Veritas : the quest" pilote.
Here is the interview, DO NOT COPY/PASTE IT ON ANOTHER WEBSITE WITHOUT ASKING ME. However, direct links to this page or the one on Audiovisuelnet are allowed and welcome.
Nathalie : So, Ryan, you've been working on two tv series project recently: Taken and Veritas. Tell me, do you have a big part in Taken ? Was it a hard role for you ? Ryan : I'm in the fourth episode only and play the lead role. No it was really great. It was really physical and the weather was cold but it was worth it to play such a great role.
Nathalie : Do you have any anecdote from the shooting to tell us ? Ryan : While I was shooting "Taken", my jacket almost caught on fire in the ending scene. Also, while I was doing "Veritas" I crashed on a motorcycle stunt. |

Nathalie : And now, about Veritas: you play lead in it. Do you have any precision to tell us about your role in it, apart from the fact you play the son, Nikko ? Ryan : It's full of action, adventure and romance. My dad is an archeologist and we travel the world in search of the truth: "Veritas" is latin for the truth. It's like Indiana Jones meets Tomb Raider. It's gonna be great ! |

Nathalie : Anything to say about the shooting (other actors, place, etc) ? Ryan : Montreal was used for recreate Paris. I work with Arnold Vosloo from the "Mummy". He's awesome and great to work with. The whole cast, crew, writers and the producer and director are amazing. The director Bryan Spicer directed me in "Taken", that's how he thought of me for this role.
Nathalie : Some of your movies are available in France. "The Luck of the Irish" aired recently on French tv. What do you think of that ? Ryan : It would be so cool to see me talking in French. What a trip ! I'm glad so many of my projects get to be seen in the foreign market. .

" I want a film career like Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, etc " |

Nathalie : What about your studies ? Ryan : I had to step away from college for now because my career is keeping me so busy. I tried internet studies for a while, but it's hard with my film schedule to keep on top of it.
Education is important to me and will always be there for me when the time is right. For now, my acting career has to be where my focus is.
Nathalie : Do you have many fans outside of the USA ? Ryan : Oh yeah, I get letters from all over like Australia, England, India, and France.
|
Nathalie : What's your biggest dream for your acting career ? Ryan : I feel like it's really happening now. I'm the star of my own tv series, and next, I want to make really great feature films. I want a film career like Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford, etc.
Nathalie : Does your job make you travel a lot ? Where ? And where would you like to go, in the USA and outside ? (Please, give a reason for your wishes) Ryan : Yes, I've been to Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Utah, Montana, New York, California, Oregon and Australia.
My dream is to go to Germany and to Paris. Germany because my Dad's family is from there, and Paris for the art, historical places and beautiful women. |
Nathalie : And, at last, if one day you become very famous in the entire world (like Keanu Reeves, Ryan Philippe or others), would you continue to keep in touch with your fans as you are doing now ? Ryan : Yes, without fans, you are nothing. You have to be good to them, if you want them to be good to you. They are what make you a success. You get what you give in life. I like this saying. Never take more than you give and always give back from what you are given.
Nathalie : Thanks a lot Ryan !!! Ryan : Thanks for the site.
